How to Read Fabric Quality Before You Buy

How to Read Fabric Quality Before You Buy

Quality isn't always obvious at a glance. Here's what to check before you invest in a piece.

Feel the Weight

Quality fabric has substance — it shouldn't feel thin or lifeless in the hand.

Check the Weave

Hold it up to the light. A tight, even weave means durability and a cleaner drape.

Look at the Fiber

Natural fibers — cotton, linen, wool — breathe better and age more gracefully than synthetic blends.

Test the Wrinkle Recovery

Scrunch the fabric and let go. Good fabric relaxes back out; poor fabric holds the crease.

Inspect the Seams

Turn the garment inside out. Straight, double-stitched seams mean it's built to last.

At Nuvelo, this is where we start — not with what's trending, but with what's built to last.
